Can I check my resume against one job description?
The scanner scores your resume on its own, without a job description. To see how well it matches one posting, open Check & Tailor in the Resume Builder and paste the job description there.
The report's ATS Keywords section already lists the keywords your target roles are screened on. For one specific posting, the match lives in the builder, where you can add what is missing in the same screen.
Match your resume to a posting
- Open Check & Tailor
From your report, press Check & Tailor in the bar at the top. It opens your resume in the Resume Builder with the match panel open.
- Paste the job description
Paste the full posting, not just the title. A short paste cannot be read as a job description.
- Read the match
You get a match percentage and a list of keywords the posting asks for that your resume does not have.
- Add what you genuinely have
Press the plus beside a keyword to put it on the resume. The score re-runs on its own after a change.
If something goes wrong
"That is too short to read as a job description. Paste the full posting."

FixCopy the whole posting, including responsibilities and requirements.
"Could not pull requirements out of that posting. Try pasting more of it."
WhyThe text does not read like a job description.
FixPaste the requirements section as well, and remove menus or navigation text copied from the page.

No. A scan scores the resume as a document. The job description comparison is a separate step in the builder.
Should I make a new resume for every job?
Tailoring the top few lines and the skills to the posting is usually enough, and the builder lets you keep several versions.
