Which file types and sizes can I upload?
Upload a PDF, DOC or DOCX file under 5 MB. The text inside must be real text, so scanned or photographed resumes and password protected PDFs cannot be read.

What will not work
- Images such as JPG or PNG, and screenshots of a resume
- A PDF made by scanning or photographing a printed resume, because it has no readable text
- A password protected PDF
- Pages, ODT or any other format, unless you export it as PDF first
- An empty file, or a file that is not a resume
If something goes wrong
"Please upload a PDF, DOC, or DOCX file"
WhyThe file type is not supported.
FixOpen the file in Word or Google Docs and export it as PDF, then upload the PDF.
"File size must be less than 5MB"
WhyThe file is too heavy, usually because of images.
FixRemove photos and logos, or compress the PDF, then upload again.
"Resume looks empty"
WhyNo text could be read from the file, which usually means it is a scanned image.
FixRebuild the resume in a word processor and export a text based PDF.
"Password protected"
WhyThe PDF is locked.
FixRemove the password, save a fresh copy and upload that.

Why does the re-scan box say 10 MB?
The Re-Calculate Your Resume Score dialog inside the report allows a slightly larger file. Staying under 5 MB is safest, because every other upload point on GoodSpace uses that limit.
Does the file name matter?
No, but a simple name such as Rahul-Sharma-Resume.pdf is easier for you to recognise in your saved resumes list.
Can I scan a resume in a language other than English?
The checks and the report are written for English resumes, so results on other languages are unreliable.
