I did not get my OTP
The SMS usually arrives in 15 to 30 seconds. Check the number on screen, wait for the resend timer, then use Resend OTP. Indian numbers also get a WhatsApp option after the first resend.
Work through this in order
- Check the number on screen
The box says Code sent to with your number. If a digit is wrong, select (Change) and type it again.
- Give it 30 seconds
The screen shows the time the code was sent and a note that it usually arrives in 15 to 30 seconds.
- Use Resend OTP
The button unlocks after a short countdown. It reads Resend OTP in 15s at first, then waits 30 seconds before it can be used a second time.
Only two resends are offered per attempt. After the second one the button goes away.
- Try WhatsApp
After the first resend, Indian numbers see Didn't get it? Send OTP on WhatsApp. Select it and check your WhatsApp.
- Start again if nothing arrives
Close the box, wait a minute, and start the sign in again. A fresh code is sent each time.
Common reasons the SMS does not arrive
- The phone is out of signal, in flight mode, or roaming without SMS
- An SMS blocker or spam filter app is holding the message
- DND settings on the number are blocking transactional SMS
- The number typed has a digit wrong, or the wrong country flag is selected
- The inbox is full on an older phone
If something goes wrong
"Please wait N seconds before requesting another OTP"
WhyA code was sent to that number a moment ago.
FixWait the number of seconds shown. The code already sent is still valid.
"Too many requests. Retry after N seconds."
WhyToo many sign in attempts in a short time from your connection.
FixWait for the time shown and try once. Repeated taps extend the wait.
"Something went wrong while sending OTP, please try again"
WhyThe message could not be handed to the SMS network.
FixTry again in a minute. On an Indian number, use the WhatsApp option instead.
Toast says "Didn't get the SMS? We've also sent your OTP on WhatsApp."
WhyThe SMS did not go through, so the code was sent on WhatsApp instead.
FixOpen WhatsApp and use the code from there. It works exactly like the SMS code.

How long is the code valid?
10 minutes. After that you get OTP has expired. OTPs are valid for 10 minutes. Please request a new one and have to send a fresh one.
Can I skip the OTP entirely?
Yes, if you already have the GoodSpace app signed in on your phone. Use Log in using the mobile app and scan the QR code.
I never get SMS on this number at all.
Use Google sign in or QR login instead. Both reach the same account without an SMS.
