Getting Started
Do I have to paste a job description?
No, the step has a Skip button. But the job description is what makes the letter specific to the role, so pasting the real posting is strongly worth the extra minute.
What the step asks for
- **Desired Job Role**
- The title you are applying for, for example Business Analyst.
- **Job Description**
- Marked optional. Paste the full posting, up to 5000 characters.
- **Skip**
- Moves on with both fields empty.
- **Continue**
- Moves on with whatever you entered.
What changes if you skip
| With the posting | Without it |
|---|---|
| Your strengths are matched to what the role asks for | General strengths from your resume |
| Uses the words the employer used | Uses generic industry wording |
| Needs light editing before sending | Needs real editing to be worth sending |
Related questions
I skipped it. Can I add it later?
Not to the same letter. Generate a new one for that job, or edit the body yourself in the editor.
Is the company name taken from the posting?
Not automatically. Fill in Company Name and HR Manager Name in the editor under Employer Details.
Does a longer paste give a better letter?
The full posting helps. Pasting the same thing several times does not.
