My cover letter did not generate
Generation takes seconds. If it fails you get a message and stay where you are. Reload, check you are signed in, and try again with the same resume and job description.
What should happen
- After you press Generate
- The letter is written and the editor opens, usually within seconds.
- What it needs
- A readable resume on your account, and ideally the job description.
- Cost
- Nothing. Generating is free, and credits are only spent at download.
- If it fails
- You stay where you are and get a message. Nothing is charged and nothing is lost.
What the messages mean
"Failed to create cover letter"
WhyThe letter could not be created on your account.
FixReload the tool and go through the steps again. Check your connection first.
"Failed to load cover letter"
WhyAn existing letter could not be opened.
FixReload, then open it from Recent Work in premium tools.
"No resume found. Please upload a resume first."
WhyThere is no resume on your account to write from.
FixUpload a PDF, DOC or DOCX resume under 5 MB and start again.
The page sits on "Loading cover letter..."
WhyThe letter did not load.
FixReload the page. If it repeats, open the letter from Recent Work.
The letter is generic and does not mention the job
WhyThe job description step was skipped.
FixGenerate a new letter and paste the posting this time. See the job description step.
The wrong name or email is on the letter
WhyThe details came from your account and your resume.
FixCorrect them in Personal Info in the editor. The preview updates as you type.

Seconds. If the page has not moved after a minute, reload and try again.
Can I close the tab while it writes?
Better not to. Closing it mid way means starting the steps again.
It keeps failing on one resume
Try a different resume file. A scanned or image based PDF cannot be read, which is the usual cause.
