Following someone and connecting: what is the difference?
Follow is one sided and instant, and puts that person's posts in your Following tab. Connect is mutual and has to be accepted, and is what a recruiter and a candidate mean by having actually spoken.

Follow someone
- Open their profile
Select their name or picture anywhere on the feed.
- Select Follow
It takes effect immediately and nothing is sent to them to approve.
- Read their posts
Open the Following tab on the feed.
Connect with someone
- Select Connect on their profile
The button then shows that a request is waiting.
- Wait for them to accept
You can withdraw the request from the same button before they answer.
- Answer requests sent to you
Their request appears on your own profile strip, where you can accept it.
