Why is the notification badge still showing a number?
Opening the bell does not clear anything by itself. A row is marked read when you select it, and the rest are marked read when you close the panel. Opening the full notifications page marks that page read.
When a notification becomes read
- You select the row. That one is marked read straight away.
- You close the bell panel. Everything that was on screen is marked read.
- You open Notifications. Each page you load is marked read as it loads.
If something goes wrong
The badge went back up after I cleared it
WhySomething new arrived. The count refreshes on its own while the tab is open.
FixOpen the bell again. The newest row will be at the top.
The badge is stuck even after reading everything
WhyThe mark as read request failed, usually a dropped connection.
FixReload the page. If it is still wrong, open Notifications and scroll through the first page.
The badge is different on my phone and my laptop
WhyOne of them has not refreshed yet.
FixPull to refresh or reload. Both read the same count from your account.

Not as a separate button. Opening the bell and closing it does the same thing for everything you saw.
Can I delete a notification?
No. Notifications cannot be deleted, only read. Old ones drop down the list as new ones arrive.
