About the Role We are seeking an experienced Purchase Engineer to manage end-to-end procurement activities. The candidate should possess strong technical knowledge of SS & MS fabrication materials and equipment used in the manufacturing of pressure vessels, storage tanks, chimneys, stacks, structural steel, piping, and industrial fabrication projects. The role requires effective vendor management, cost optimization, timely procurement, and coordination with production, design, planning, QA/QC, and project teams. Key Responsibilities Handle complete procurement activities for mechanical, fabrication, and project requirements. Source and procure raw materials including Stainless Steel (SS) Plates, Sheets, Pipes & Fittings, Mild Steel (MS) Plates, Sections, Pipes & Structural Steel, Flanges, Valves, Fasteners, Welding Consumables, Industrial Equipment and Bought-Out Items. Procure materials for Storage Tanks, Pressure Vessels, Reactors, Chimneys & Industrial Stacks, Structural Fabrication, Process Piping, Heavy Fabrication Projects. Develop and maintain a reliable vendor base across India. Float RFQs, evaluate techno-commercial offers, negotiate prices, payment terms, delivery schedules, and finalize purchase orders. Coordinate with Design, Production, Planning, QA/QC, and Project teams to ensure timely material availability. Monitor supplier performance regarding quality, delivery, and commercial commitments. Ensure procurement complies with approved specifications, drawings, project requirements, and quality standards. Track purchase orders until material receipt and resolve supply-related issues. Maintain inventory levels while minimizing excess stock. Identify cost-saving opportunities through value engineering, alternate sourcing, and strategic negotiations. Prepare comparative statements, procurement MIS, vendor evaluation reports, and purchase analytics. Ensure compliance with company procurement policies and documentation requirements. Requirements B.E. / B.Tech. in Mechanical Engineering Strong knowledge of SS & MS fabrication materials. Experience in procurement for tanks, pressure vessels, chimneys, stacks, structural steel, piping, and heavy fabrication projects. Excellent vendor development and vendor management skills. Strong negotiation and commercial acumen. Ability to read engineering drawings and material specifications. Sound understanding of fabrication processes and manufacturing practices. Knowledge of BOM, MTO, purchase planning, and inventory management. Strong communication, analytical, and coordination skills. Preferred Qualifications Additional qualification in Supply Chain Management or Materials Management. Experience in Heavy Fabrication, Pressure Vessel Manufacturing, EPC Projects, Process Equipment Manufacturing, Steel Fabrication, Oil & Gas Equipment, Power Plants, Cement Plants, Chemical & Pharmaceutical Equipment, Industrial Engineering Manufacturing.
